How your money is protected
Your money moves in six steps. Not one.
When you order a piece that hasn’t been made yet, the honest question is: what happens to my money in the meantime?
Here is exactly what happens.
| Step | Released | When | What you get to see |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · Your Sunaar accepts | 15% | Your order is accepted and the metal and stones are bought | The name and workshop of the goldsmith making your piece |
| 2 · Work begins | 15% | Roughly half the piece is made | Photographs and video of the work in progress — this evidence is required before the release happens |
| 3 · Piece complete | 15% | Manufacturing is finished | The finished piece, photographed before it goes anywhere |
| 4 · Hallmarked and packed | 10% | Checked, hallmarked and packed for despatch | Packing is filmed at the hallmarking centre |
| 5 · Delivered | 25% | The piece reaches you | Tracking from door to door |
| 6 · Yours to keep | 20% | After it has reached you and your return window has passed | — |
Until the last step, a fifth of the payment has not reached your Sunaar. It is released only once the piece is in your hands and you have decided to keep it.
Why it works this way
Your Sunaar is a person, not a warehouse.
A goldsmith buys the metal and the stones before making anything. Paying nothing upfront would mean asking them to fund your order out of their own pocket — which is exactly the arrangement that keeps artisans dependent on showrooms.
Paying everything upfront would mean asking you to take all the risk.
Six steps splits it fairly. The artisan is funded as the work progresses. You hold the final fifth until the piece is actually in your hands.
What else is checked along the way
- BIS hallmarked. Purity certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, on every gold piece.
- GSI graded. An independent grading report with every diamond.
- Packed on camera. Your piece is packed at the hallmarking centre and the packing is video-recorded — so what left is provably what arrives.
Questions people actually ask
What if I don’t like it when it arrives?
You can return it. The final payment is not released to your Sunaar until after it has reached you and your return window has passed.
What if the artisan doesn’t finish?
No further payment is released. Steps that haven’t happened aren’t paid for, and we assign your order to another verified Sunaar or return what you’ve paid.
Who holds my money in between?
Payments run through Razorpay and Cashfree. Funds are released to the artisan only when a step is confirmed complete.
Can I talk to the person making my piece?
Yes. That is the point. Every piece names its Sunaar, and the Bargain flow is a direct conversation with them.
Do I pay more for this protection?
No. It is how every order works.
